Mars Rover and Science City

Mars Rover was a domelike exhibit built to simulate exploring an alien landscape. Inside, we mounted a camera connected to an external monitor, giving visitors a first-person view. A microcontroller linked the camera to the main controls on the outside, allowing visitors to zoom and rotate the disk inside the dome to “examine” the planetary scene. The structure was built with a steel frame, covered with MDF, and painted to bring the environment to life.

I also designed and built a few smaller, creative pieces for the exhibit. One was a display showcasing different rocks and minerals, made using recycled materials from other exhibits. Another was a cubby-like structure that served as both seating and storage for books, shoes, and other items, with spot lighting installed to highlight and enhance the space, combining functionality with playful design.
